Resistive touchscreen.

Resistive touchscreen.

For resistive touch screen, there are two conductive layers. The two layers are separated by one layer of dot spacers. The top conductive layer is called matrix, in which striped electrodes on substrates such as glass or plastic facing each other. Normally, this top conductive layer is ITO film, in which, ITO is coated onto the PET layer. On the market, there are several mainly suppliers for ITO layers, mainly from Taiwan area and Japan, Oike, Nitto, Joinwell, Ushine...

The second layer is called analogue which consists of transparent electrodes coated onto the substrates. Normally, this layer is made from glass, with ITO coated. When contact is made to the surface layer of the touchscreen, the two sheets are pressed together. On these two sheets there are horizontal and vertical lines that, when pushed together, the computer will register the precise location of the touch. Because the touchscreen senses input from contact with nearly any object (finger, stylus/pen, palm), resistive touchscreens are a type of "passive" technology.

Resistive touch screens have been widely used for decades since it’s introduction to the market in 1970s and are still to be thought as a popular, well proven and trusted solution. With their immunity to EMC/EMI/ESD features and compatibility with a wide range of available controllers, resistive touch screens are easy to integrate and employ in many applications(military, industrial, hospital, medical, ); and often incur lower development costs than it’s alternatives, such as PCAP.

SPE’s core team has been designing and manufacturing resistive touch sensors since 2008. This extensive experience has been incorporated into today’s designs, using advanced materials to produce the most reliable and cost effective resistive touch screen sensors to accommodate various requirements from customers on the market.

Resistive touch panels are one of the most adopted technologies. There are several types of resistive touch panels based on different detection principles, they are 4 wire resistive touch screen, 5 wire resistive touch screen and 8 wire resistive touch screen. The term “wire” is used to indicate how many circuit elements are terminated to the cable for connection to the interface electronics. 4 and 8 wire resistive is similar in operation. All resistive technologies have similar constructions. That is to say they are analogue switches, and a kind of “passive” electric product.
