Cover Lens

Cover lens can be made from Glass, PET, PMMA. But most industrial application will utilize Glass as cover lens. Typical cover glass thickness are: 0.55, 0.7, 1.1, 1.8, 2.8, to maxim 10 mm.

Strengthened

Physical strengthened glass. Normally, thickness higher than 1.8mm(includes) will be physical strengthened.

Chemical strengthened glass. Normally, thickness lower than 1.1mm(includes) will be chemical strengthened.

The reason why the thickness upper than 1.8mm will be physically strengthened is the glass which was treated thermally is considered safer because it breaks into little, granular chunks which are not sharp (thus dangerous). Why the glass lower than 1.8mm is not thermally hardened? Cause if the glass is too thin, thinner than 1.8mm, when the temperature goes to 400℃ the cover glass shape will bent.

Cover glass hardness: normally 6H and 7H.

Color

For glass,  a common phenomenon is a delicate green tint of the material. It is particularly visible on the edge of the screen. The reason for this is that it contains iron oxides. In some cases, this effect needs to be eliminated by using ultra-clear glass (to keep the true colors).

Transmittance: normally, 92%. Max can go to 98%.

Surface coating:

Anti-Glare, Anti-Reflective, Anti-Finger, Anti-Fog, Anti-Bacterial.

We also offer special materials for cover lenses:

Corning Gorilla/AGC Glass

Gorillas/AGC Glass are scratch-resistant and durable glass product made for touch screens. Corning's display glass technology helps customers solve some of the industry's most complex challenges.

This type of glass is made from chemically strengthened alkali-aluminosilicate. The glass has its strength thanks to the ion exchange process it undergoes during manufacturing.
